The global forecasting and macroeconomic analysis tool that helps economists around the world predict the future.
“Our web site has been beautifully engineered by Sophilabs.”
Oxford Economics is one of the world’s foremost independent global advisory firms, providing reports, forecasts and analytical tools on 190 countries, 100 industrial sectors and over 2,600 cities. It is a key adviser to corporate, financial and government decision-makers and thought leaders. Its worldwide client base comprises over 700 international organisations, including leading multinational companies and financial institutions; key government bodies and trade associations; universities, consultancies, and think tanks.
Oxford Economics needed a clean modern website that reflected the company's proficiency and experience according to its market position.
Thousands of reports and analysis tools needed to be available for economists around the globe for access on a daily basis.
A customer portal with secure and fast search capabilities, along with the backend generating dynamic content and allowing economists to upload and notify customers about their work.
After receiving style guidelines, our designers started working on initial mockups. Through an iterative process, Oxford Economics executives were able to take the leap into understanding customers needs when interacting through a web interface.
In parallel, our engineers worked closely with the company's IT department to determine that Orchard CMS was the best fit for the project.
From there, an agile development process was followed, Scrum before launch and Kanban afterwards.
Oxford Economics strategy of providing critical information to customers would not be complete without a mobile app to allow ubiquitous access.
Sophilabs team worked in designing and implementing a mobile app that connects to the backend providing access to customers everywhere.
The mobile app allows users to easily access their subscriptions and bookmark reports to be read later on without an internet connection.
To quote Dr Arvindra Sehmi:
"Today I consider the website more than just a site. It is a platform on which we can do a lot of ‘cool stuff’ going forward. It will help us keep our promise to deliver new innovations that will attract new clients and lead them to love what we do.
At one point there was so much complexity the problem looked intractable. However, the architecture and design choices that Sophilabs made at the outset really paid off handsomely"
Oxford Economics front end is built with HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery. On the backend, OrchardCMS connects to other services that consume information from SharePoint or send notifications using Mandrill. For services communication RabbitMQ is used. Data is stored on SQLServer, relying on Solr to provide full-text search capabilities.
The platform that generated advertisment channels to reach potential consumers close to their shopping places
